Availity Selects SAVVIS IT Infrastructure Services to Support Global Software as a Service Transaction Processing Model

Leader in Healthcare Information Exchange Deploys Hosting, Network, and
Managed Security Services Underpinning More than One Million Transactions per

ST. LOUIS, Mo., ? September 29, 2008 ? SAVVIS, Inc. (NASDAQ:SVVS), a

applications, today announced an agreement to provide hosting, network, and
managed security services to Availity, L.L.C, a national leader in electronic
health information exchange.
Availity is one of the nation?s largest information exchanges that process
medical information. Through a software as a service (SaaS) model, the company
handles more than 500 million transactions annually between health care
professionals and providers across the U.S. As a result, Availity requires
multiple security layers and reliable network services to underpin its large
enterprise applications.
Under the terms of the three year agreement, SAVVIS will provide Availity with a
variety of network, hosting, and professional services, including SAVVIS
Foundation Hosting which allows customers to maintain control of their operating
system (OS) but eliminates burdens such as server hardware procurement, racking
and stacking, space and power management, and onsite support.
In addition, SAVVIS will provide comprehensive managed security services
consisting of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and log management
services that provide customers with an easy method for storing and searching
system logs and triggers alerts to help them respond to security threats in
real-time. Services will be delivered from SAVVIS? data centers in Dallas and
Atlanta.
More than 47,000 customer organizations, including 95% of the healthcare
provider practices in Florida alone, use Availity?s secure portal and EDI
services daily to complete important transactions such as eligibility and
benefits verification, claim submission, claim status inquiry, and electronic
health record retrieval.
