Hosting News GTSI Teams with Savvis to Deliver IT Infrastructure Services to the Federal Government 2008-12-18
ST. LOUIS, MO. December 15, 2008 Savvis, Inc. (NASDAQ:SVVS), a global
leader in outsourced managed computing and network infrastructure for IT
applications, today announced a strategic alliance with GTSI Corp., a leading
provider of information technology (IT) solutions to the federal government.
Under the alliance, Savvis will become GTSIs preferred provider of a wide range
of managed hosting and IT infrastructure services for the federal agencies that
outsource their IT services to GTSI.
Facing growing power and data center space constraints, the federal government
has been increasingly outsourcing its IT infrastructure requirements rather than
owning and operating IT infrastructure internally. GTSI is the leading provider
of IT solutions to the government and is evolving its business model to meet the
growing need for outsourced and managed IT services.
Savvis provides a broad range of flexible IT infrastructure services including
managed and colocation hosting, virtualized computing and storage services,
managed networks, and managed security services to meet the requirements of
government and commercial enterprises.
We needed a strategic IT infrastructure provider who could support the growth
in our managed IT services sales model, said Bill Weber, GTSIs Senior Vice
President of Programs and Services. After an extensive assessment of service
providers, we selected Savvis as the preferred provider based on their IT
infrastructure services expertise, strong government experience, and flexible
services offering.
GTSI is a well-recognized leader in providing IT technology solutions to the
federal government and we are excited about the opportunity to work together
with them as a preferred provider, said Phil Koen, CEO of Savvis.
Increasingly, government agencies are going outside their own walls to secure
IT and hosting services and they will now benefit from the combination of GTSI
expertise in government operations and our expertise in managed IT
infrastructure services.
Savvis IT infrastructure-as-a-service delivery model closely aligns with GTSIs
Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM), a framework for government agencies in
the acquisition, deployment, management, support, and disposal of technology to
meet business objectives and budgets.
Encompassing more than 1.4 million square feet, Savvis operates 29 data centers
in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including three in the Washington, D.C. federal
marketplace. Savvis has been recognized as a Leader in the Gartner Magic
Quadrant for North American Web Hosting since 2004. The 2008 report can be
