Intermedia Hosted Exchange Services Offer Security, Economy

people--have ever tried to set up a Microsoft Exchange Server, you know it's not
particularly easy. And the time it takes is expensive. But secure e-mail is
absolutely critical for some SMBs. The biggest risk is not from an external
threat like hackers: It's actually internal, from former employees whose e-mail
access hasn't been deactivated, or the rogue IT guy who starts reading the CEO's
mail, says Danny Essner, Director of Marketing for
Intermedia.
Exchange hosting services are becoming more popular because of their support and
cost, but which one should you choose? Intermedia has a good solution.
Intermedia offers Microsoft Exchange Hosting as one of its security services.
It's Software as a Service (SaaS), which makes some people nervous, but it
shouldn't, says Essner. Think of where some people keep their Exchange servers:
In the break room, or the mail room, where they can be damaged or otherwise
physically compromised. "You actually have more physical security when you move
to a hosted environment," he says.
Any good security system is complicated, according to Essner. Intermedia employs
multiple layers of security processes, a sophisticated infrastructure that's

unauthorized people at your company.
Intermedia, which has been in the business for eight years, is also expert at
backing up and restoring e-mail, says Essner. If there's an interruption and you

afford to lose one e-mail.
"E-mail is today's dial tone," he says. "Business has moved to digital
communications, and the phone has taken a back seat."
Intermedia currently has over 300,000 hosted e-mail seats.
Prices for Microsoft Exchange Hosting start at $35/month for three users;
$125/month for 10 to 24 users (10 mailboxes; 4GB disk space per mailbox; all
hardware, software, and licenses; $11.95/month for each additional user); the
next price break starts at 25 users. Optional services include BlackBerry
Enterprise Server hosting, Secure Mail, SharePoint packages, and iPhone
synchronization.
