OCN to Offer Flat-rate Billing Option for Mobile Data
2008-04-19
TOKYO, JAPAN April 16, 2008 - OCN, the Internet service provider operated by NTT Communications (NTT Com), will introduce a flat-rate billing option for wireless notebooks that connect remotely to the Internet via a FOMA 3G data card or handset of NTT Com's sister company, wireless operator NTT DoCoMo, beginning May 1.

Subscribers to a variety of existing OCN plans (see attachment) now will be able to enjoy mobile communication without worrying about time and packet charges.

Although no application to NTT Com will be required, OCN subscribers will need to apply to NTT DoCoMo for one of its "Flat-rate Data" plans. Heavy data users will have the option of applying to NTT DoCoMo for either the "Flat-rate Data Plan HIGH-SPEED" or "Flat-rate Data Plan HIGH-SPEED Value" to download music and video content at maximum speeds of 7.2 Mbps or 3.6 Mbps, respectively.

Other than normal OCN charges, subscribers to the OCN Mobile Access plan will not pay NTT Com anything extra under the new arrangement, while subscribers to other OCN plans will pay an additional monthly fee of just 577.5 yen (incl. tax) in any month in which they use wireless data communication.

The monthly flat-rate charge will be billed through the subscriber's monthly statement from NTT DoCoMo.
