Rack-Soft Releases 4PSA Clean Server 4, the New Antivirus for Plesk Servers Based on 4Grid Technology

October 6, 2008 - Rack-Soft launched today 4PSA Clean Server 4, the next
generation email and file system antivirus for Plesk servers, based on the 4Grid
technology. The software introduces distributed scanning, delivery policies and
advanced antivirus control features. 4PSA Clean Server uses the award winning
ClamAV antivirus engine.
4PSA Clean Server 4 solves all email antivirus scanning issues that Plesk
administrators face today. With a traditional antivirus, email scanning is
performed on the hosting server. As the scanning process is CPU intensive,
regular processes serving HTTP or Database are affected, leading to sub-pair
performance. On a hosting server using an old generation antivirus, high email
flow can lead to Denial of Service or delayed email delivery.
To solve some of the problems associated with host level email scanning,
providers deploy specialized email filtering appliances in front of the hosting
servers. These usually introduce single points of failure, can scan a limited
number of emails, hardly integrate in an automated environment, and are not
economically efficient.
4PSA Clean Server 4 introduces a new approach to solve these issues by
clustering the scanning processes. The product can be installed on one server
like a traditional antivirus and when the number of servers increases, the
hosting company can introduce specialized scanning nodes that handle email
scanning for the entire infrastructure. Scanning requests are distributed
automatically between scanning nodes and email delivery is not affected even
when a hosting machine is flooded with emails.
The product is based on the proprietary 4Grid, an innovative technology born to
allow providers to create service delivery clouds. ?4PSA Clean Server 4 is our
first public release of a product based on 4Grid framework. Together with our
customers, we tested the new version in large environments with more than two
hundred Plesk hosting servers. Our testing partners were excited to see that the
