The Planet Launches Shared Load Balancing for Virtual Racks

Performance-Enhancing Technology Now Available at Lower Cost

today launched shared load balancing for its popular virtual rack solution.
Based on Foundry ServerIron technology, the new product offers the same
performance benefits of traditional load balancers, with introductory pricing
starting at just $75 per month.
With shared load balancing, The Planet leverages a powerful network device
shared by several virtual rack customers, offering the same scalability and
redundancy as a dedicated load balancer at an 85 percent lower cost of entry. By
using load balancing technology, aggregate server throughput and the number of
concurrent connections are increased, which allows more traffic at higher speeds
to customer sites.
?With the approaching holiday season, businesses ? especially e-commerce
companies ? will begin to see spikes in site traffic,? said Bryce Edwards, The

Shared load balancing is available in three packages for virtual rack customers.
The Business package features 50Mbps of throughput and 10,000 concurrent
connections; the Enhanced package offers 175Mbps of throughput and 25,000
concurrent connections; and the Premium package provides 300Mbps of throughput
with 50,000 concurrent connections.
