CINCINNATI—July 23, 2008— tw telecom inc., (NASDAQ: TWTC), a leading
provider of managed voice, Internet and data networking solutions for
businesses, and Peak 10, a leading independent data center operator, today
announced the expansion of a master services agreement that enables tw telecom
to deliver its industry-leading Ethernet Services portfolio to Peak 10’s
Cincinnati data center. The agreement further strengthens the two companies
working relationship and increases the number of Peak 10 locations using tw
telecom’s Ethernet Internet services to ten of Peak 10’s 13 data centers. The
company uses the high-bandwidth service to deliver managed services to its data
center clients across the nation.
“A primary reason we partner with tw telecom is their ability to supply
reliable, scalable Internet services,” said Ronnie Frames, director of network
services and engineering for Peak 10. “They offer on-net connectivity at most of
our data center facilities, so we can quickly complement our managed services
with highly-available Internet service. And as our clients’ needs grow, we can
add additional tw telecom services very easily.”
“Through this continued deployment, Peak 10 is able to leverage our network
investments to reach even more customers around the United States,” said Ken
Chinchar, tw telecom’s Atlantic region vice president. “With more buildings
connected with fiber than any other competitive carrier in the U.S., and the
ability to leverage our Ethernet Services portfolio, Peak 10 can combine their
breadth of managed data center services with our robust network portfolio –
truly a winning combination for enterprises.”
Peak 10 has leveraged the tw telecom national network and suite of services to
support its increased expansion into new markets. A multi-year, multi-million
dollar master services agreement provides these capabilities to Peak 10 and
allows it to focus on service delivery and support for its core managed IT and
data center solutions. “We’ve found our relationship with tw telecom to be very
beneficial in growing our business,” said Frames.
The Cincinnati facility, scheduled to go live later this year, is linked to the
tw telecom network via a gigabit-Ethernet network. Peak 10 has the ability over
this network to sell its service on demand – and burst to three times its
subscribed capacity. “The benefit of burstable bandwidth is that it ensures our
ability to maintain our high service levels to customers during peak traffic
periods,” Frames said.
“We’ve created our nationwide network of Ethernet Internet service that is
flexible, highly reliable, to deliver end-to-end service with low latency
capability,” said Chinchar. “These are just a few of the qualities our network
provides to businesses looking to expand and grow in competitive markets.”
Time Warner Telecom changed its name to tw telecom on July 1, 2008.
